It is important to know that when doing any home renovations that Sarasota county requires permits and or proper licensing for some jobs. If you are thinking of doing any renovation work to a home in Sarasota be sure to get a permit or they can charge big fines.  Here is a document from the county about what things need permitting and or what projects need to have a licensed contractor. I recently had to get some permits and they were friendly and helpful.  The permits were not expensive.
