If you are planning any home renovations in Florida be in the know as to what is required to have a permit and what is not.  The people at the county office are very helpful in answering questions. It can save you time and money doing it right the first time. Here is a list from the Charlotte County website of what things Do NOT require a permit. Permits shall not be required for the following: Commercial flag poles. Commercial low voltage burglar, security, cable TV and phone installations. Commercial painting (local license by contractors required). Commercial pressure washing. Consider this- a 3 bedroom home is not enough details There are homes that have 1100 sq ft that have 3 bedrooms and there are homes that have 2600 sq ft that have 3 bedrooms A garage- will a 1 car garage suffice or do you need at least 3? if only one is the driveway adequate to get in and out and hold all the cars. My dentist recently told me that when they bought the house it was great but now his kids will be getting their license soon and is concerned about parking. Location- Where are your favorite place or places you will frequent often. It may be work, a favorite restaurant or shopping center, a golf course, park, a beach or downtown?
